Do you know someone that talks too much and is very vocal and opinionated? So much so that when they come at you, you just want to run the other way? There are some people who have no filters or restraints; they don’t know when to stop talking. They pride themselves in feeling so important that they believe their ideas and opinions are more important than anybody else’s. In relationships and friendships it’s important to listen and give others the opportunity to speak too. The Bible says in James 1:19, “Let each of you be fast to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry.” We should actually listen more than we speak: that’s why God gave us 2 ears and one mouth. Jesus kept silent on many occasions when we would have spoken up; defended ourselves and vocalized what we know. Ecclesiastes says that there is a time to speak and a time to be silent. This is pastor Roy, don’t miss the opportunities to keep silent and let others shine. This reveals your honesty, strength and character. Jesus did it, and so can you because you are more than a conqueror!
